How to Hang Vertical Blinds on a Patio Door
Before you buy vertical blinds, decide whether to mount them inside or outside the door frame because the mounting hardware is sold with the blinds. When you are ready to hang the vertical blinds on a patio door, make sure you have the mounting hardware in the right position. Does this Spark an idea?

Inside Mount
-
1
Use the tape measure to measure out from the patio door. If you have a protruding handle, measure out far enough to prevent the vanes from bumping into the handle when the blinds are closed. You will need at least a 4-inch deep door frame to use the inside mount and avoid the door handle. After you make your mark for depth, measure 1 inch from the side of the door frame and make a mark.
-
2
Place the left bracket up on the ceiling of the door frame flush with your marks. Use a drill to make the 2 pilot holes for the screws. Drill the right side pilot holes.
-
-
3
Use a screwdriver to attach the brackets to each side of the door frame. Place the headrail (long strip that holds the vanes) into the brackets.
Outside Mount

5
Measure 1 inch in from the imaginary side wall. Make a mark so you know where the bracket must go.
-
6
Place the bracket on the wall flush with the mark you made. Use the drill to make pilot holes. Do this on both sides of the door frame.
-
7
Place the left bracket on the wall, and use the screwdriver to tighten the screws. Install the right side next. Place the head rail in the brackets.
