Cinnamon twists, or cinnamon buns, are a common and easy hairstyle that both women and girls wear. This hairstyle can be worn with the entire hair in one bun or with the hair twisted in several different buns. These small "twists" were used before curling irons as a way to curl hair by twisting damp sections into twists and leaving them in overnight.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Rubber band (optional)
  • Bobby pins or hair sticks
  1. Step 1

Section off the hair you'd like to put in the twist. You can gather all of your hair at the back of your head or gather sections. For "Princess Leia" twists, make a center part and gather your hair near your ears. For high twists, part your hair down the middle and gather your hair into two high ponytails. You can either section them off with rubber bands or simply begin twisting without the rubber bands.

  2. Step 2

Twist your hair in a clockwise motion until the entire section is in one long twist.

  3. Step 3

Take the hair and move it counter clockwise, twisting it in on itself until it forms a "cinnamon twist" or "cinnamon bun."

  4. Step 4

Place the hair sticks or bobby pins in the hair to keep it in place.

  5. Step 5

Repeat with other sections of the hair. Add ribbons on younger girls for a festive look.

Tips & Warnings
  • Experiment with doing several different small twists in patterns to add new dimensions to your hairstyle.
