Decorating curtain rods can create a new look for a room. Adding details to the ends of the curtain rod can tie the theme of a room together. When you are decorating your curtain rod, make sure not to prohibit the movement of the curtain from opening and closing. Most decorations should be painted on or attached to the ends of the curtain rod. There are many options for decorating a curtain rod. Pay attention to the theme and style of your room when deciding how to decorate your curtain rods.

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Paint a curtain rod with spray paint to compliment the color of the room. Make sure you use paint meant for the material your curtain rod is made from, such as metal, wood or plastic. If you want to add stripes to your curtain rod, tape rings around the curtain rod. Paint with a different color and remove the tape.

  2. Step 2

For a floral room, select fake flowers that match the room's décor. Wind the stems of the flowers around the ends of the curtain rod. Secure with glue.

  3. Step 3

You can also use grapevine to add an interesting look to your curtain rod without compromising the stability of the rod. Soak the grapevine in water to soften. Wind the grapevine tightly around the curtain rod. Wire the grapevine to the curtain rod in different spots to secure it.

  4. Step 4

For a child's room with a car theme, add toy cars to the end of the curtain rod. Glue toy cars to end caps of the curtain rod. This can be done with any toy that fits the theme of the child's room.

  5. Step 5

Fishing lures can also be used to decorate a curtain rod. Clip the barbs of the lures off to prevent anyone from getting cut. Wire the lures to the ends of the curtain rod. Have a group of lures on each end.

Tips & Warnings
  • Any materials that are not too heavy can be used on the ends of a curtain rod. Use materials that correlate with the theme of the room design.
