Make good choices about when to wear your wig. Avoid wearing the wig at times when it might be exposed to dust, salt water spray, heavy rain, high wind, lots of sweat or during any time when you'll be doing any particularly rigorous physical activity.

    • 2

Remove your wig carefully. Take it off slowly. If the lace front sticks to your skin, release it with proper spirit gum solvent rather than pulling harder.

    • 3

Store your wig properly. Place the wig on a proper head-shaped wig stand whenever you're not wearing it. This will prevent tangling of the hair, as well as preserve the shape of the wig.

    • 4

Clean the lace front after every use. Gently wash away traces of makeup using a cotton ball soaked in soapy water or makeup remover. Get rid of traces of old spirit gum or tape adhesive using a cotton ball with solvent.

    • 5

Wash your wig by hand when needed. Gently wash your wig in the sink with regular shampoo and conditioner. If your wig is made of synthetic hair, use cool to lukewarm water, but never hot.

    • 6

Avoid damaging products and styling. Don't dye the wig or use large amounts of hair spray, mouse or styling products containing clay or wax. Avoid heat-treatments and styling, especially with synthetic hair (as it may melt).
