The first step in making delicious home made popcorn is to start the cook top on high. Place 1/3 stick of butter or margarine in the whirly pop and place it on the stove. It will take just a little while for the butter to melt. Turn the handle on the whirly pop slowly until it begins to sizzle.

Add 1 cup of popcorn kernels and 2 teaspoons of salt to the whirly pop and continue turning the handle very slowly. It may take two to three minutes for the popcorn to start popping. Once it does stir just a little faster. The popcorn will begin popping faster.

  3. Step 3

As soon as the pops slow and the handle begins getting difficult to turn, remove the whirly pop from the stove and pour all of the popcorn into a bucket or serving tray. You can add salt and butter to taste.
