Raw Food Bars

Raw food bars are a great way to get more living food into your diet. Living foods have a variety of health benefits including digestive enzymes and more nutrition. Raw food bars are also convenient and easy to take along when traveling or commuting. You can make raw food bars in your dehydrator at home from raw nuts and seeds and dried fruits and berries.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 3 cups wheat, whole and raw
  • 3/4 cup of raw dried dates
  • 3 tablespoons raw honey
  • 1 cup raw almonds
  • 1/2 cup raw macadamia nuts
  1. Step 1

Soak and drain the wheat, macadamia nuts and almonds twice a day for two days. Drain well before using. For more information on sprouting nuts, grains and seeds, see the resource section below.

  2. Step 2

Place the wheat, almonds and macadamia nuts in a food processor. Process the ingredients for 30 seconds to 1 minute on low speed. Turn the food processor off and check to make sure the ingredients are well blended.

  3. Step 3

With the food processor running on low, add the honey and dates until the ingredients are well mixed.

  4. Step 4

Smooth the raw food bars evenly onto a solid dehydrator tray. Dry at 100 degrees for 6 hours. Turn the food bars over and place them on a slotted tray for a few more hours until the moisture is gone from the food bars.

  5. Step 5

Cut the bars into serving sizes and enjoy.

on 10/25/2009 Do you suppose I could dehydrate the bars in an oven? I really like the sound of this recipe but I don't have a dehydrator. :( I guess I could try it out and see what happens. Thanks for sharing your recipe.
