Things You'll Need:
- Credit Card
- Driver's License
-
Step 1
Once you decide it's time to pack up all of your belongings in boxes and move to a different location, it's time to rent a moving van or truck. Hiring movers can be quite expensive, depending on how far you are moving. But with a rented moving van or truck, you can pack up and do the move on your own.
-
Step 2
First, go online and find a Uhaul location near where you are currently residing. You can also browse the moving vehicles that are available for you to rent. This way you can take down some measurements and begin to figure out how much space you need and how big of a moving van or truck to rent. Links are in the resources section below.
-
Step 3
Once you find the closest location, make a reservation for the date and time that you will need the moving van or truck. You can reserve your rental online as long as you have a credit card. Your moving vehicle will be reserved for you on the day and time that you want it.
-
Step 4
Once moving day comes, go to the location and pick up the moving van. The driver of the moving vehicle will have to present a valid driver's license.
-
Step 5
Drive the van to your belongings and begin to load it up. Remember, the gasoline in the moving van must be re-filled before you return it, otherwise you will pay a fuel surcharge.
-
Step 6
Don't forget to pay the extra ten bucks or so for an insurance waiver for the moving van or moving truck. This way if anything happens, you are not liable for the damages to your rental vehicle.
