Gmail features its own email interface.

Email addresses have become indispensable for modern communications. You use one at work to exchange messages with colleagues and customers, or create one at home to receive family pictures and newsletters. Although you typically receive a free account from work or your Internet Service Provider (ISP) at home, to protect your security and privacy, you may want to create a separate address for use with shopping sites and online games.

Instructions

    • 1

Browse the website of the free e-mail provider such as Gmail.

    • 2

Click the "Create an Account" button to display an online form.

    • 3

Enter the requested information including your login name, a password that is at least 8 characters long, and a security question and answer that verifies your identity if you lose your password.

    • 4

Read the Terms of Service and click the "I Accept" button. A congratulations screen appears to show that your account is active. Click the "Show Me My Account" button to proceed. Your primary email page appears with messages from Gmail. Click a message title to read because it may contain important information about your account.

Delete your read emails and then send yourself a message before signing out. Try signing in again under your usercode and password to ensure that your account is working correctly. Then read the message you sent yourself for further confirmation.
