A mosaic table is a vibrant, whimsical addition to your home or garden and making your own is cost-effective and gives you the freedom to select a design and color scheme to best complement your decor. Mosaics are unique and functional art pieces that can be made from broken tiles and ceramics as well as pottery, earthenware, glass, shells and marbles to create a more varied surface. A mosaic is also an excellent way to use leftover supplies from a home renovation.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Sketch out your design and place your mosaic pieces on the tabletop to test out your spacing and the overall look of the design. Remove pieces prior to beginning the next step.

  2. Step 2

Sand the tabletop before applying your mosaic pieces.

  3. Step 3

Spread tile adhesive onto the tabletop. Work in sections starting from the center of the table to avoid the adhesive drying before you have time to place your mosaic pieces. Allow several hours for the tile adhesive to dry.

  4. Step 4

Mix grout with water in a bucket according to the instructions on the packaging.

  5. Step 5

Spread grout over the top of the mosaic pieces using a trowel.

  6. Step 6

Sponge unwanted grout from the surface of the mosaic pieces after the grout has partially dried.

Tips & Warnings
  • Your mosaic table can contain a variety of materials but remember to select items that will lie flat on the table top.
