Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Knife
  • Acrylic paint
  • Hot glue
  • Decorations
  • Clear workable fixative (optional)
  1. Step 1

Start by choosing a pattern for your cinnamon stick craft. Common crafts include making boxes or Christmas ornaments from the cinnamon sticks. Shapes are created by gluing cinnamon sticks together, often on top of each other.

  2. Step 2

Cut the cinnamon sticks with a knife to the desired length. Typically, they should all be the same length.

  3. Step 3

Decorate the cinnamon sticks with acrylic paint if they need to be colored instead of plain. For example, a reindeer can be created from a plain cinnamon stick while cinnamon sticks used to make a Santa Claus should be painted red with white trim and a black belt.

  4. Step 4

Use a hot glue gun to glue the cinnamon sticks together or to glue decorations to the cinnamon sticks. To make a box, glue four cinnamon sticks together at the end to make a square. Then continue running a line of glue along the top of each stick and place other cinnamon sticks on it. Keep building them up until the cinnamon stick box is the desired size. For reindeer or Santa Claus ornaments, simply hot glue on a loop of ribbon to hang them and add decorations such as pipe cleaner antlers and googly eyes.

  5. Step 5

Hot glue any accessories on, such as bows, ribbon or gemstones. Take the piece outside and spray the entire work with clear workable fixative if desired. This is not necessary, however, and will take away some of the cinnamon smell from your project.
