There is no nicer feeling after a hard days working, than soaking in a hot mineral bath. There are any number of commercially available bath salts that are touted to do wonders for your skin and vital bodily functions. Most bath salts can be quite expensive though and if you make a habit of taking mineral baths they can be prohibitively costly. There is a solution and that is to make your own, as follows.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Magnesium Salt (MgSO4)
  • Bowl or Dish
  • Sponge
  • Coloring (food)
  • Measuring Cup
  1. Step 1

Mix in the Magnesium Sulfate in a 1 : 2 ratio with plain boiled water in a bowl or dish. As you grow in proficiency you could make greater amounts but begin by using ¼ cup of Magnesium Sulfate and a ½ cup of water.

  2. Step 2

Boil the water on the stove or in a kettle first and then add it to the bowl. When it is boiled add in the Magnesium Sulfate, and if you would like a color other than the generic white of the Epsom salt crystals, you can add in food coloring.

  3. Step 3

Leave the solution to grow the Epsom Salt crystals. Pour the solution into a shallow container and place it in a sunny location where it can evaporate.

  4. Step 4

The Epsom Salt crystals will appear as the water evaporates. They will of course be colored by the food coloring that you added earlier. Collect the Crystals after the water has evaporated and the crystals have dried
