How to Empty an LG Washer Drain Hose

It's always a good idea to empty an LG washer drain hose before moving the appliance or attempting any repairs. If you disconnect the hose from the drain and simply drop it to the ground you'll discover that seemingly empty hose actually holds nearly a gallon of murky, brown water, which will immediately pour all over your floor. Follow these steps to avoid a nasty mess.

Things You'll Need

  • LG washer
  • Bucket
  • Pliers
  • Wrenches
  • Screwdriver
  • Turn off the water supply valves as a safety precaution and disconnect the washing machine from the wall outlet before removing the drain hose.

  • Lift the washer drain hose from the exhaust pipe in the wall and lower the hose into a bucket to drain as much water as possible.

  • Remove the drain hose from the back of the LG washer using pliers or a wrench and the screwdriver to loosen the metal clamp holding the hose to the appliance. Keep the bucket handy before pulling the hose free from the appliance.

  • Hold the bucket beneath the drain hose where it attaches to the LG washer and pull the hose away from the appliance to drain the remaining water in the washing machine.

Tips & Warnings

  • Follow these same procedures to drain the feed hoses for hot and cold water into your LG washer.
