Instructions

    • 1

Carefully remove all components from the box, including the PC, keyboard and mouse. If there is any static on your skin, first touch a metal surface to discharge before you take out the PC. Static electricity can ruin some of the computer's inner components if it comes in contact with them.

    • 2

Place the PC on a desk or table. Do not plug your PC into the wall yet. Instead, plug the mouse into the green mouse slot at the top of the back of the PC. Then plug the keyboard into the purple keyboard slot at the top of the back of the PC.

    • 3

Plug the monitor into the back of the PC. If your monitor has a VGA cable, plug it into the blue VGA slot. If it is HDMI or DVI, plug the monitor into the HDMI or DVI slot.

    • 4

Plug your speakers into the green audio "Output" slot. Do not plug it into any of the other slots as this can cause damage to the sound card. Then plug your Ethernet cable into your PC's Ethernet slot.

    • 5

Plug your PC and monitor into the wall. It is recommended, though not required, that you plug your PC into a power-surge protector to add an extra level of security in case of a lightning strike.

    • 6

Turn on your eMachines PC. The computer will begin booting up.

    • 7

Click "Next" to begin the Windows Vista/7 setup process on your machine. The computer will then begin to set up the operating system for first-time use.

    • 8

Enter your username and a password for your PC. This can be your first name or any other name you wish to use. Click "Next" and your Desktop will display within a few minutes, signifying your eMachines computer has been successfully set up.

Tips & Warnings

  • Unplug your modem/router if the Internet does not work on your newly set-up PC. When you change computers, a modem/router will sometimes not recognize the new PC until you've reset the modem/router. To do this, simply unplug modem/router for a minute and then plug it back in. Within a few minutes the Internet will work on the new PC.
