Peavey SP3 speaker enclosures are three-way, full-range enclosures producing 1,200 watts program of output at an impedance of 8 ohms. These professional-grade enclosures produce great sound quality, and setting them up to run with your powered amplifier is quite easy.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Peavey SP3 speaker enclosures
  • Powered amplifier
  • Balanced speaker cables with 1/4 inch or Neutrik connectors
  1. Step 1

Determine whether you will be running the speakers using 1/4 inch balanced speaker cables or using cables with Neutrik connectors.

  2. Step 2

Locate the stereo balanced powered outputs on the back of your amplifier. Identify the outputs for your method of connection (1/4 inch or Neutrik). Check to make sure the outputs have an output impedance of 8 ohms, matching the input impedance of the speaker enclosures.

  3. Step 3

Connect one end of the speaker cable to the outputs on the back of the amplifier.

  4. Step 4

Connect the other end of the cable to the corresponding input jack on the back of the SP3 speaker enclosure.

  5. Step 5

Power on your amplifier and make sure sound is coming out of the speakers. Adjust the volume level accordingly.

Tips & Warnings
  • Whether you use 1/4 inch or Neutrik connectors will not affect the quality of sound produced.
  • Make sure the output impedance of your amplifier matches the 8 ohm input impedance of the SP3 speaker enclosures. Mismatched impedance could damage your amplifier. Ensure the output wattage of your amplifier does not exceed the 1,200 watts per speaker power rating of the SP3 enclosures. Too high an output could damage your speakers.
