The simplest rubber band gun can be made in seconds with just a standard-sized rubber band and several minutes of practice. Rubber band guns are popular with younger children, mostly young boys, as they are easy to "reload" and getting shot with one is moderately painful.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Standard-sized rubber bands, roughly 3 1/2 inches long
  • Two hands
  1. Step 1

Take the rubber band with your left hand, and hook it on your right-hand pinkie.

  2. Step 2

Stretch the rubber band around the back of your right hand until it touches the point where the wrist and palm meet.

  3. Step 3

Form a "gun" gesture with your right hand where your index finger is pointing away from you, your thumb is sticking up (perpendicular to your index finger) and the rest of your fingers are curled in toward your palm.

  4. Step 4

Bring the rubber band up around your thumb and hook it over the tip of your right index finger.

  5. Step 5

Shoot. Simply point to the target with your index finger and release your pinkie. The rubber band should go wherever you pointed your index finger.

Tips & Warnings
  • A smaller rubber band will fit more tightly around your hand and shoot with much more speed and force.
  • Shooting rubber bands from close distances can leave red marks on the skin. It is dangerous to shoot in the face or neck.
