Things You'll Need:
- Computer mouse with USB cable and plug-and-play functionality

Power up the computer.

Connect a plug-and-play computer mouse to a free USB port on the laptop. The mouse is just temporary to help you get the touchpad working again.

Locate the touchpad icon, which is in the lower right-hand side of the screen. The icon will appear as a gray square or rectangle, with two rectangular buttons underneath.

Use the mouse to double-click on the touchpad icon, opening a window on your laptop screen.

Inside the touchpad window, click the option labeled "Enable Device".

Select other options for the touchpad, such as pointer speed and shape.

Click "Apply", then "OK".

Disconnect the mouse from the laptop.
