How to Swallow Pills
For some, swallowing a pill is as simple as eating and drinking. Others can't get the pills down regardless of what they try. The problem can be physical, mental, or both. But you can do several things to prepare and to make swallowing much easier.

1
Practice swallowing smaller pieces of food and candy without chewing beforehand. M&M's and Skittles are two examples.
-
2
Try placing your pill into a piece of food. This trick is often used to give pets medication. For many people, an inability to swallow pills is more a mental problem than physical. Place the pill inside a muffin and you won't feel the pill on your throat. Always consult your doctor before doing this, because many medicines and foods shouldn't mix.

3
Take your pill with a flavored carbonated beverage. This can make the pill float right down your throat without touching, and the flavor will take your mind off the medication. Drink straight from the bottle or can.

4
Go Ask Alice from Columbia University tells those placing the pill at the tip of the tongue to tilt the head back when swallowing. People putting the pill on the back of the tongue should tilt the chin down while swallowing.

5
Drink two cups of water as quickly as possible when swallowing the pills. The force of the water will probably cause them to go right down.

Tips & Warnings
Gargle with saltwater, mouthwash or a sore-throat medicine spray or medicine before swallowing the pills. This can make your throat less sensitive. Try breaking the pill in half with a kitchen knife. Swallowing two smaller objects can be easier.
