Instructions

    • 1

Soak the safety razor completely in a bowl of hydrogen peroxide for 8 hours.

    • 2

Use an old toothbrush to scrub away the loosened grime and dirt. Allow the razor to then soak for another 2 hours. Again, scrub away any loosened grime.

    • 3

Use a toothpick to remove any dirt buried in the details of the safety razor. Wipe it clean with a warm washcloth.

    • 4

Use tarnish remover in a pot of boiling water. Allow the safety razor to boil in the solution for roughly 30 minutes. Carefully cool off the solution and remove the razor.

    • 5

Disinfect the razor by soaking it in isopropyl alcohol. Wipe clean with warm water and a washcloth.

    • 6

Polish the razor with the metal polish.

    • 7

Extend the life of your razor blade by running it back and forth half a dozen times across the pant leg of an old pair of jeans. This helps dry the razor completely. Soak the blade in mineral oil to repel water, decreasing oxidation.

Tips & Warnings

  • While the soaking of the razor in numerous different solutions may seem overkill, it is really the difference between your razor looking brand new or worn down and grimy.

  • Read the warning labels of each solution carefully. Certain solutions may not go well with the particular metal of your safety razor.
