Things You'll Need:
- 2 apples
- Mixed mesculin greens
- Walnuts
- Vinaigrette salad dressing
- Manchego cheese
-
Step 1
Get fresh lettuce from your local grocer. I prefer this recipe with mixed mesculin greens. Rinse your lettuce with water and place into a bowl that you will use to serve the salad.
-
Step 2
Take a handful or two of walnuts, depending on your tastes and how much nuts you want in your salad, and crush them. One way to do this is to place the walnuts in a ziplock bag and crush them with a can or with a hammer. Drop the crushed walnuts into the salad bowl and mix with your lettuce.
-
Step 3
Take 2 apples and core them and slice into chunks. Make sure to use an apple variety that is recommended for salads, such as Gala, Cortland, Honeycrisp, or Empire. Mix the apple chunks in with the walnuts and the mesculin greens.
-
Step 4
Use a cheese grater and shave off some thin slices of Manchego cheese into the salad bowl. Use the side of the cheese grater that will give you a nice 2 inch long, thin slice.
-
Step 5
Add in your favorite vinaigrette salad dressing and mix all of the contents in the bowl together. You can experiment with the dressing, my favorite is a raspberry vinaigrette. Serve, eat, and enjoy!
