When you receive an important e-mail from a client, you want to make the e-mail look important. To do that, you have to make the e-mail standout. Today, I’m going to make an important e-mail standout using Outlook. So let’s get started, just follow the steps below to continue.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Tools and rules. Go to the top of the screen and click on “tools.” Now click on “rules and alerts.” A box will open up.

  2. Step 2

New rule. Click on “new rule.” When the box opens, go to start from a blank rule, and then click on “check messages when they arrive.” Click “next.” A rules wizard page will pop-up.

  3. Step 3

Your conditions. Go to “from people or distribution list” and check the box next to it. On the bottom of the page, click on it and a rule address page will pop-up. Enter your client information in the box below the page. Click OK. A check names page will appear. Click “next.”

  4. Step 4

Action plan. In the rules wizard page, check the box next to work it as importance. When it appears in the box below, click on importance. An importance box will appear. In the drop down menu, set your importance to high and click OK.

  5. Step 5

Except for the exceptions. In the rules wizard window, there is an except list. Check the box to any exceptions that apply to your client.

  6. Step 6

Other Eye-openers. In the rules wizard window, there are lot of other options to choose from. Add more options you think is necessary so you don’t miss e-mails from your client. Keep hitting “next” until you see “finish.”Click “finish.” Once you click finish, an info box will pop-up. Hit “OK.” When you are back to rules and alerts, click “apply” and then “OK.” So that’s it, you are done.
