Need a Demonstration Speech Topic?

A demonstration speech topic has to show people how to do something. In that way it is different from any other public speaking presentation. Of course you can use all kinds of techniques including power points, visual graphs, visual aids, handouts, and volunteers to help you accomplish the task. However, the most important creative task is actually coming up with the demonstration speech topic.

  Whatever demonstration speech topic you choose, it should be something you enjoy. A good public speaking presentation usually happens when the speaker is excited and energized about the topic at an appropriate level. So take out a piece of paper and start brainstorming things you love to do.

  ~ Narrow down the list to things you can demonstrate ~
  
  You know your time limit for your public speaking presentation and the size of the room. Demonstrating how to drive a stick shift is difficult to do in a speech in a small room. It's possible, but you might do better choosing something more manageable. Circle the things on your list that you could do in a small room. If none are there, keep brainstorming.

  ~ Choose the one your audience will be most interested in ~
  
  Once you have a few ideas for your public speaking presentation, eliminate ones that only a small group of people might enjoy. Everyone has needs. See if one of your possible topics might meet a need for someone in the group. Some good demonstration speech topics might be How to Create a Budget, How to Make Baclava, How to Write a Resume, How to Get into Masters Programs, etc.
