How to Prepare White Chicken Chili

Sometimes a big bowl of chili hits the spot. Whether it is a cold day out, or you need something hot and steamy to eat, making a nice pot of white chicken chili can turn a drab day into a day that is just right. Add a twist to your typical chili recipe and prepare white bean chili with basic ingredients and turn a typical day into a terrific one.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 Chicken breasts
  • 2 15 oz. cans Northern beans
  • 2 15 oz. cans Chicken broth
  • 1 Medium onion
  • 6 Garlic cloves
  • Chili powder
  • Cumin
  • Oregano powder
  • Olive oil
  • Salt Soup pot
  • Kitchen knife
  • Measuring utensils
  • Cutting board
  1. Step 1

    Finely chop the onion.

  2. Step 2

    Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil into a soup pot. Sauté the onions until they are transparent.

  3. Step 3

    Cut the chicken breasts into small cubes. Add the chicken cubes to the sautéed onions.

  4. Step 4

    Sauté the chicken until cooked through.

  5. Step 5

    Add 6 pressed garlic cloves to the chicken and onion mixture.

  6. Step 6

    Stir in the 2 cans of chicken broth.

  7. Step 7

    Open the 2 cans of Northern beans. Drain the beans. Add 1 can of beans to the chili mixture.

  8. Step 8

    Place the second can of drained beans in a bowl. Mash the beans. You are creating a thickener for your chili.

  9. Step 9

    Add the mashed beans to your chili mixture.

  10. Step 10

    Add the following spices to your chili mixture:
    ¼-teaspoon chili powder
    2 teaspoons ground cumin
    ½-teaspoon oregano powder
    1 teaspoon salt

  11. Step 11

    Heat your chili through. Serve in colorful bowls with a side of crackers or a baguette.

Tips & Warnings
  • Add spices to taste.
  • Substitute Cannellini beans for Northern beans.
