How to Make Your Own Septic System Treatment
If you live in an area that requires a septic tank and septic system rather than a city based sewer system, you know the expense of buying septic system treatments. The purpose of a septic system treatment is to keep your system in good working order to extend its life. Septic system treatments have an active enzyme which will break down any solid wastes and keep your system running smoothly and problem free. Boil approximately ½ of a gallon of water. Add 2 ½ cups of sugar. Stir to dissolve the sugar. Allow the sugar and water to cool to room temperature.

Add 2 ½ cups of cornmeal. Mix very well into the water. Allow to sit for 2 to 3 minutes.

Add 4 packages of dry yeast to the water, sugar cornmeal mixture. Stir well to mix the dry yeast in.

Pour the solution into your toilet and flush the toilet. When the toilet refills flush again. Do not use your toilet for at least 6 to 8 hours. This is best done right before leaving for work in the morning or right before going to bed at night. Repeat the treatment once a month to keep your septic system running smoothly.
