The Raggedy Ann doll has been around since the early 20th century. Chances are your mother and grandmother played with her when they were little. Maybe you did too. If you have a pattern, you can make your own Raggedy Ann doll for your daughter, granddaughter, niece or little sister. Once you have made the doll, all there is left to do is embroider her face.

Instructions

    • 1

Apply the pattern transfer using an iron.

    • 2

Take two strands of red embroidery floss and thread the embroidering needle. Prepare to do the nose. Raggedy Ann's nose is a triangle. The base and height of the triangle are both about 1 inch. Use the straight stitch. Start at the bottom of the nose, narrowing the length of your stitch as you work your way up to the tip.

Sew on two black, four-hole buttons, one for each eye. Use small straight stitches for the eye lashes. Under each eye, about 3/4 inch away from the eye, use straight stitches to make 1-inch-long, smile-like curved lines. For eyebrows use satin stitch to outline and then fill them in with outline stitch.

Use two strands of black embroidery floss to make a curved line for the mouth, about 3 inches long. Use a satin stitch for this. Using two strands of red floss and a straight stitch, make a 1/4-inch vertical line at each end of the mouth. In the middle of the mouth, use several vertical straight stitches to make a 1/4-inch wide vertical line that is 1/2 inch long.

Look over the embroidered face. If you see any areas that are not bold enough, go back and fill them in a little more.
