Fog lights are small lights below the headlights on a vehicle. In addition to providing better visibility in foggy weather, fog lights also help improve your vision at night and in rain. Fog light bulbs are like any other auto bulb; they eventually burn out. Luckily, installing fog light bulbs is no harder than installing any other auto bulb.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Replacement bulb (see resources for bulb type)
  • Screwdriver
  • Socket wrench (optional)
  1. Step 1

Check in your owner's manual to determine the type of bulb your fog lights use. If you have difficulty finding the information, see the resources section to find bulb types by year, make and model.

  2. Step 2

Examine your fog lights. Most fog lights are surrounded by a plastic cover. The covers are usually attached by clips, but some are attached by screws or bolts. Pop off the cover or remove the screws or bolts.

  3. Step 3

Remove the screws from your fog light mounting bracket. The bracket surrounds the fog light and will be visible with the cover removed. Once you have the screws off, carefully pull the fog light from its mount.

  4. Step 4

Twist the module on the rear of the fog light counterclockwise to unlock it, and then carefully pull the module from the fog light assembly.

  5. Step 5

Press the tab on the fog light module to release the old bulb. Install the new bulb in its place. Insert the module back into the fog light assembly and twist it clockwise to lock it.

  6. Step 6

Mount the fog light assembly back on the bracket and replace the screws. Replace the fog light plastic cover. If held on by clips, simply pop it back on. If held on by screws, place the cover in its spot and replace the screws.

  7. Step 7

Repeat the procedure if you need to install more than one fog light bulb.
