Ensure you meet the requirements to become a home inspector in Illinois. You must be at least 21 years old and a high school graduate to apply. Knowledge of engineering and construction are also valuable if you want to be a home inspector.

Take a pre-license course that has been approved by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
