Corrupted files usually are at fault when an uninstallation process fails in Windows. If you can't get a program to uninstall by running its uninstallation program or using the Add/Remove Programs applet in Control Panel, you still have a couple of other things to try.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Boot into Safe Mode--restart the computer and tap "F8" on your keyboard as Windows starts loading. Use the directional keys on your keyboard to select "Safe Mode" on the resulting menu and hit "Enter."

  2. Step 2

Try to uninstall the program from Safe Mode with the program's uninstallation applet or through the Windows Add/Remove Programs applet. If this fails, continue to the next step.

  3. Step 3

Restart your computer and boot into the standard Windows mode.

  4. Step 4

Download the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility from Microsoft.com and run it to clear the installation queue.

  5. Step 5

Uninstall the stubborn program as normal.
