Instructions

1
Decide which curtain edge you would like to apply the beading on. Most people choose to line the bottom edge or the inner edge, but trim can also be placed on the bottom edge of fabric tiebacks.
-
2
Measure chosen curtain edge.
-
-
3
Cut trim. The trim should measure the length of the curtain edge minus 1/8 inch. The 1/8 inch difference will keep the tape portion of the trim from being seen from the front of the completed piece.
-
4
Sew edges of trim. Sewing along the cut edges of the trim keeps it from unraveling. This can be done with a sewing machine or by hand.
-
5
Pin the trim to the curtain. Lay the curtain right side (front) down on a table. Then lay the trim along the edge on the wrong (back) side with the fringe portion dangling below and the tape portion overlapping the curtain material. Place straight pins in approximately 6-inch intervals to keep work in place while sewing.
-
6
Stitch the trim in place. This can be done by hand or machine.
-
7
Remove pins and hang the curtain.

Tips & Warnings
If sewing with a machine be sure to insert pins so that they are perpendicular, not parallel, to the machine stitching. This will keep you from breaking the machine needle on a pin. If sewing by hand, make each individual stitch as small as you can. Smaller hand stitches result in a stronger hold.
