Step 1
Disconnect the power from the Maytag dryer by unplugging it from the wall outlet. If you have a gas dryer, you must turn off the gas supply at the shutoff valve as well.

Step 2
Open up the lid to the lint screen. Remove the two screws that are located near the lint screen using a screwdriver. Remove the lint screen from the dryer after removing the screws.
-
Step 3
Insert a putty knife between the front and top panels. Locate the mounting clips about two inches from the corner, and press in with the putty knife to release them.
-
Step 4
Lift up on the Maytag dryer top, and maneuver it out of the way without disconnecting any wires.
-
Step 5
Disconnect the door switch by pressing in on the harness connector tab and pulling it apart.
-
Step 6
Open the dryer door, and remove the two screws that secure the switch to the dryer using a screwdriver.
-
Step 7
Pull the switch out from the dryer and install the new switch. Be careful when inserting the switch tab through the dryer so that you do not bend or damage it in any way.
-
Step 8
Hold the switch firmly to the inside of the dryer while securing it from the outside with the retaining screws.
-
Step 9
Reconnect the harness to the new switch by pressing it together until the plastic tab locks into place.
-
Step 10
Line the top of the dryer back over the sides and front. Gently press down around the corners to engage the retaining clips.
-
Step 11
Insert the lint screen into the lint trap. Reattach the two retaining screws that are located at the lint trap door. Close the lint trap door.
-
Step 12
Turn the gas valve back on to the dryer if you have a gas model. Plug the Maytag dryer back into the wall outlet.
