Rival food slicers are electric appliances used primarily to slice deli meats. Along with deli meats, Rival food slicers can be used for cheeses, breads and cakes. Besides larger commercial models, Rival also produces a line of countertop slicers for home use. Make sure you follow all usage and care instructions detailed in your owner's manual to safely operate a Rival electric food slicer.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Rival food slicer
  • Owner's manual
  • Soap
  • Cloth
  • Water
  1. Step 1

Place the food on the tray once you have plugged in the unit. Position the food so that the side you want cut is farthest away from you.

  2. Step 2

Turn on the Rival food slicer by simultaneously holding down the safety button and "On" button. Once you hear the motor start up, you can release the buttons.

  3. Step 3

Put your left hand on the food pusher while making sure that your thumb is positioned behind the thumb guard. Slide the food pusher so that the food on the tray moves towards the blade of the Rival food slicer.

  4. Step 4

Move the tray back and forth to continuously slice the food placed on it. Apply light pressure on the food as well to make sure the slices come out even.

  5. Step 5

Press the "off" button, and unplug the unit when finished slicing. Until the unit is unplugged, wait to remove the food.

  6. Step 6

Clean the Rival electric food slicer by wiping down the unit while unplugged using a damp cloth and mild soap. Rinse with water, and pat the unit dry. To keep the motor working properly, never submerge the unit while cleaning.
