Things You'll Need:
- 2 inch outside diameter schedule 40 PVC tubing, 48 inches long
- 1/4 inch-by-2 1/2 inch long Phillips head stainless steel bolt
- 1/4 inch Stainless steel nut
- 1/4 inch stainless steel flat washer
- Reciprocating saw
- Drill
- 9/32 drill bit
- Phillips screwdriver
- Bench vise
- 7/16t-inch wrench
- Tape measure
- Angle finder
- Bastard file
- Torch
- Permanent marker

Step 1
Mark a 75 degree angle on one end of the schedule 40 PVC tubing. Cut off the pipe on the mark with the reciprocating saw. Remove the burr left by the reciprocating saw with the bastard file.

Measure down and place a series of marks a half-inch from the edge of the pipe. Continue marking the pipe until the entire circumference of the pipe is marked.

Step 3
Measure the length of butt of your rod. Transfer the butt length to the square edge of the PVC tubing. Clamp the PVC tubing in the pipe vise with the angle cut facing towards the ground. Drill a 9/32 hole through both sides of the PVC tubing. Remove the burr left by drilling the 9/32 hole.

Step 4
Remove the PVC tubing from the vise. Light the torch and soften the square end of the PVC tubing without allowing the flame to come into direct contact with the PVC pipe. Press one side of the softened PVC tubing against a concrete floor or a rock. Rotate the PVC tubing clockwise adding pressure with each revolution. Reheat the tubing if it hardens.
Rotate the PVC tubing until you have an even flare around the entire square end of the tubing. -
Step 5
Push the 1/4-inch stainless steel bolt through the hole that you drilled in the pipe. Attach the washer and then thread the nut on the bolt. Tighten the bolt slightly with the Phillips screwdriver and wrench.
