How to Avoid a Pending Divorce
Going through a divorce can be mentally, emotionally and physically stressful, especially if you do not want the divorce. Although unwanted divorce proceedings can seem final, your marriage could still be salvageable. Just because you are going through a difficult divorce does not mean you have to sit around and do nothing to save your marriage. Be willing to put in the necessary effort to try to avoid a pending divorce and to make your marriage work.

1
Check with your spouse to agree on a quiet and relaxing place where you can be alone to discuss the reasons why you are getting a divorce. See if the issues can be resolved. Allow your spouse to speak freely without interruption and criticism while you listen and comprehend what your spouse is saying. Be appreciative that you are getting the chance to sit and talk.
-
2
Let your spouse know you do not want a divorce instead of secretly trying to prevent it. Your spouse may not know that you want to make the marriage work. Try to be as upfront and honest as possible with your spouse about wanting to save your marriage. Do not use deceitful tactics to save your marriage.

3
Show your spouse that you have love, appreciation and respect for him despite your pending divorce. Send your spouse a thank-you card, poetry or any little reminder of the great times you had together to bring a smile to your spouse's face.
-
4
Ask your spouse to seek help with you from a marriage counselor. Getting help from a professional third party could assist you and your spouse in seeing your situation clearer, finding common ground or looking for other ways to avoid a divorce.
