Orange sauce can be used over cakes or bread pudding. This recipe can also be used as a hot drink on cold winter days.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • ¾ cup orange concentrate thawed
  • ¼ cup of water
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • dash of salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
  1. Step 1

Mix thawed orange concentrate and water in a bowl. To thaw the orange concentrate you can leave it out of the fridge for an hour.

  2. Step 2

Add cornstarch to the orange mixture and mix thoroughly. It is important that the cornstarch dissolves and blends completely with the mixture to prevent clumps.

  3. Step 3

In a medium sized saucepan stir in the orange mixture, and add sugar and salt over medium heat. If you are using non stick cooking ware make sure you use a plastic or wooden spoon to stir so you don't scratch the non stick surface.

  4. Step 4

Stir constantly until mixture starts boiling. Let it boil for a few minutes until the consistency of the mixture is rich and syrup like.

  5. Step 5

Add butter or margarine and stir for a couple of minutes until it is completely melted and mixed in.

Tips & Warnings
  • Add 2 teaspoons of grated orange peel for extra citrus flavor.
  • I have found Minute Maid Original Orange concentrate to have a rich, natural orange flavor. I use it for this recipe.
  • When preparing the orange sauce do not leave unattended as it might clump. Stir constantly.
