Instructions

Wash your face thoroughly. You need to make sure that there isn't any excess dirt or oil left on your skin, as applying makeup to oily and blemished skin causes more blemishes. After washing, pat your skin with a light cloth. Then apply toner and moisturizer.

For concealer that comes in a stick, simply apply to the areas that you'd like to conceal. Use enough concealer to cover the blemish or imperfection, and make sure the concealer extends past it in a circle around it. Blend the edges of the concealer around the area, without pressing into the center of it. Only lightly tap the center to blend the concealer, or else you risk rubbing it right off. Use the tip of your ring finger to feather out the edges of the concealer.

For concealer that comes in cream form in a container, use a very small makeup brush, makeup sponge or your fingertips, and blot onto the area you'd like to conceal. Blend as much as possible using the same technique in Step 2.

After you've applied the concealer, apply a foundation of your choice that matches both your skin tone and the concealer. Using makeup brush, powder puff, makeup sponge or your fingertips, blend the foundation onto your face. Follow with face powder to reduce shine. If you find it too difficult not to mess up your concealer by applying foundation over it, just apply the foundation first and then do the concealer.

Tips & Warnings

  • The most important thing to know about concealer is that it must match your skin tone and your foundation. If possible, try sampling makeup before you buy it.

  • Don't overapply concealer or any other makeup for that matter unless you want caked-on makeup.

  • Always wash your face at night and in the morning to avoid causing further blemishes.
