Once you are in the game, select the "New Game" option and watch the beginning cut scene. Once it is over, move to the left of the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier and select your first mission, which will take place in Tokyo. In order to progress through each level, you will need to fight enemies and move from area to area, following the in-game prompts when necessary. Each completed level will grant access to an additional level, which you can select the same way you selected your first mission.

As you complete levels you will gain experience points, which can be used to strengthen your characters. Remember to go to the far left side of the Helicarrier between missions to improve Spider-Man's abilities and unlock additional abilities for your allies. You should primarily focus on Spider-Man's abilities before your allies', in particular his web line. The web line allows Spidey to attack from a distance, attack on the move, and dish out damage to many enemies in relative safety. Maximizing the line's abilities will let you avoid damage and defeat, and save you credits and combos. Once you max out Spider-Man, try to focus on a single ally and maximize him or her. If you want to use Venom, pour all your available credits (after Spider-Man) into Venom's abilities to make him a better partner. If you're unsure about which ally to use, play a few levels with each available partner to get a feel for their unique talents.

Remember to use your powerups. The D-Pad allows you to use health potions, invincibility potions and damage potions, and neglecting them will make your life a bit more difficult than it needs to be. While you should try to hold on to a potion for each sticky situation you may come across, don't be stingy with them, either. It's easy to buy or find more, so use them if you have them.

Each enemy type has a relatively simple strategy. For small enemies, use crowd controlling attacks that knock multiple enemies down or knock them away from you. Spider-Man's web abilities are incredibly useful here. For the bigger, strong enemies, use webbing to tie them up and keep them still, or trip them with your web line. Attacking them head on when they're stronger isn't wise, so use Spidey's agility to your advantage. Finally, when confronted with the husky, sumo enemies that constantly stomp and use shockwaves to attack, try to stay airborne as much as possible. Jump into the air and use your webbing to yank a crate or robot up to you. Then, before hitting the ground, throw it at the sumo for maximum damage to the enemy while taking minimum damage yourself.
