How to Chat With Someone on MSN Messenger Using Yahoo

Yahoo! Messenger allows instant messaging across multiple messaging programs, such as Windows Live (MSN) Messenger. Right on your Yahoo! Messenger interface, you can see the online status of Live Messenger users, share emoticons and add friends to either service. For those who do not want to switch instant messaging services, enjoy the luxury of using the features you love and are accustomed to with your Yahoo! Messenger program while communication with family and friends who use Live Messenger.

      Launch your Yahoo! Messenger program from the location where you have it saved. If you do not have it installed on your computer, download and install it (see Resources below). Launch your program after it has installed.

      Click the "Add a Contact" or click "Contacts" and click "Add a Contact."

      Type in the Windows Live Messenger address and select " Windows Live (MSN)" under the "Network" category. Click "Next."

      Select the group to add the contact to. Choices include groups such as family or friends. Then click "Finish." A message will be sent to the MSN contact. Once that person approves the request, you will be able to see when he or she is online. Double-click the MSN contact to begin chatting when that person is online.
