Christmas Pregnancy

For most of the population, Christmas is a time of celebration, running to and fro, long hours of shopping and holiday parties. For a smaller section of the population, ladies who are in their final stages of pregnancy, Christmas can be a time of discomfort. For some women, the last stage of pregnancy is no picnic. The baby is growing larger, the extra weight pulls on the back and sometimes there’s slight swelling and a general feeling of, “Will this baby ever come out?”

Moms shouldn’t fret. In a few short months the baby will be born and the temporary discomfort will be a distant memory. Here are a few tips on how to get through the hustle and bustle of Christmas during the late stages of pregnancy

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Put the baby first. This may be kind of tough but if you’re used to running around at Christmas, preparing the dinner and making sure everything is just perfect, you’ll have to put that extra energy on the shelf and conserve it for the baby. You don’t want to do anything that’s going to cause the little bundle of joy to make an appearance too soon.

  2. Step 2

Engage the help of friends and family. This is probably the first and last time that you’ll be able to have someone do you’re shopping for you. Being in the final stages of pregnancy around Christmas time you may not be able to stand on long lines at the mall or walk the distance between the stores and the parking space. This is the perfect time to engage the help of your friends and family.

  3. Step 3

Take care of the little things. While everybody else is running around shopping and making sure the dinner is perfect, you can sit quietly and do things like create homemade ornaments, wrap gifts or read Christmas stories to the excited little ones. Its great practice for when your little bundle of joy shows up.

  4. Step 4

Enjoy the help that you’re receiving. This may be the last time especially if it’s your first child in your life that you will be able to sit back with your feet up and have people wait on you. Once the baby gets here, you’ll be the one doing the running around. So sit back, make yourself as comfortable as possible and enjoy the Christmas decorations.

  5. Step 5

Watch what you eat and eat in moderation. Depending on how close you are to delivery, your stomach may not allow you to pig out on Aunt Mag’s famous pumpkin pie (ask her to freeze one for next year). You don’t want to spend your Christmas holiday sick and uncomfortable because you ate too much.

  6. Step 6

Take lots of pictures. Family members will take pictures of you this year, but next year, it goes without saying that 99.9% of the pictures will be of the baby. So, say cheese now.

  7. Step 7

Give thanks. If you start to feel a little down in the dumps because you can’t get around like you normally do at Christmas time, give thanks that you have friends and family to help you and that you will soon give birth to a beautiful baby. Not everyone is so fortunate.
