Fried pies are not healthier than baked pies, but desserts weren't meant to be healthy anyway. This recipe will teach you how to use cocoa powder to make a deliciuos chocolate pie that happens to be fried. You can also change up the ingredients and add your own filling.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 can of flaky biscuits
  • 1 c. of sugar
  • 1/2 c. of cocoa powder
  • 8 Tbsp. of melted butter
  • Oil filled frying pan
  • Chocolate syrup
  1. Step 1

Lay your biscuits out on a flat surface. You may need to flour the surface first. Roll the biscuits out so that they are much thinner.

  2. Step 2

Place one Tbsp. of melted butter in the middle of each of the flattened biscuits. Don't get the butter near the edges because you will need to close up the pie later.

  3. Step 3

Mix the cocoa powder and the sugar together in a small bowl. Place two Tbsp. of the mixture in each of the biscuits. Again, you want to make sure that you don't get it near the edges.

  4. Step 4

Fold the biscuits over and press all of the edges together so that they stay shut during cooking.

  5. Step 5

Heat up some oil in a frying pan by placing the heat setting to high. Set the biscuits in the hot oil and cook until each side is golden brown. Only a few minutes on each side. Remove from the oil and set on a paper towel which will absorb the excess oil.

  6. Step 6

Before serving, drizzle chocolate syrup all over the top of the pie.

Tips & Warnings
  • Switch the inside filling with your favorite pie filling.
  • The oil will become very hot. Keep all children and pets out of the room while you are cooking it.
