How to Create an Advertisement on Craigslist

Craigslist is a free website that features user-submitted classified advertisements in a variety of categories. Creating an advertisement on Craigslist is a convenient way to market your product or service and reach a wide variety of potential buyers or clients. The process of creating a Craigslist advertisement is relatively simple and takes just a few moments to complete.

Instructions

1. Set up a free Craigslist account by going to the website listed in "Resources," below, and following the on-screen instructions.

2. Log in to Craigslist and click on "Post to Classifieds" at the top left-hand corner of the screen. This will bring up several categories. Select the category where you want your advertisement to appear.

3. Assign your advertisement a title and fill in as little or as much information as you prefer under the "Description" section. Click "Continue" when you have finished editing your advertisement.

4. Preview your advertisement on the screen that appears next. Click "Edit" to make changes or click "Continue."

5. Fill in the appropriate letters and numbers that appear in the security box and click "Continue."

6. Check your email for a copy of your Craigslist advertisement. Your advertisement will become live on the Craigslist website within 10 to15 minutes.

Tips & Warnings

• Craigslist does not allow users to create multiple advertisements for the same product or service, so be sure that any advertisements you create are not similar to one another. Be sure to read the Craigslist rules prior to posting any advertisement to ensure that your advertisement is not in violation of any documented regulation.
• Do not post any discriminatory content in your advertisement. Craigslist will remove these advertisements and you can be permanently barred from using Craigslist services.
