Things You'll Need:
- Passport valid for at least six more months
- Blank visa page in your passport
- Visa application form
- Recent 2-by-2-inch photo
- Proof of travel

Step 1
Visit the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in Hong Kong (see the location section). No appointment will be necessary, but you will be required to bring a recent 2-by-2-inch photo of yourself to submit with an application. The photo may be in color or black and white.

Step 2
Go to the Consulate Department Office and complete a visa application form. Select the "double-entry" option on the form if you will be traveling back and forth between Hong Kong and China proper. Once you've completed the application, glue or staple the photo to the form.

Step 3
Pay the standard fee of HK$100, which can be paid by cash, money order, cashier's check, Visa or MasterCard. Personal checks are not accepted. Your visa will take about four business days to process. Express service is available at an additional charge.

Ask a travel agent for assistance in finding an authorized agent who will deliver the visa material on your behalf if you are not able to visit the consulate in person. Provide a stamped, self-addressed envelope with your application if you would like your documents returned to you in the mail. Travel agents in Hong Kong can have your visa processed in one to two business days, but the service is typcally more expensive than applying in person.
