1 cup baking soda
1 cup salt
30 drops of lemon essential oil

Flea-eliminating products contain insecticides and toxic chemicals that can damage your carpet and are unsafe for you and your children or pet. Baking soda, salt and lemon essential oil make a great natural solution for combating pesky fleas by eliminating any flea eggs and repelling existing fleas. Applying the solution over your carpet can keep your home safe and smelling good.
Step 1
Mix 1 cup of baking soda with 1 cup of salt and 30 drops of lemon oil. Repeat the ratios for as much as you need to cover your carpet with a light sprinkling of the baking soda treatment.

Step 2
Sprinkle the baking soda carpet treatment over the entire carpet area. You should not be able to notice the baking soda powder once it has been applied. If you can, you have put down too much.
Step 3
Sweep the treatment down into the carpet fibers using a broom.
Step 4
Let the mixture absorb down into the fibers. Repeat once a week or after you vacuum.
