1
You need to develop a connection with the person that you are trying to hypnotize. Try to be as friendly with them as possible as this will get you a long way.
-
2
Be authoritative. People will be more likely to follow your instructions if you speak with a bit of authority. The idea here is to make it sound as if you know exactly what you're talking about, and for lack of a better term, that you're better than they are. This will give them a reason to follow your commands.

While you are trying to speak with authority, always remember to be friendly. If you seem harsh or brutish a person will begin to doubt you.
-
4
Try giving a few basic commands, such as telling them to move their hand. You'll be amazed at how quick they are to listen to you and do as you say. Naturally this cannot be used to force a person to do something that is against their moral values.

5
Hypnosis is not mind control, and it is nowhere near that. Keep his in mind and you will do well.

Objects can also be used in the hypnosis effort. You can use a stopwatch or a pendulum, however getting someone to follow this with their eyes is very important, as they will begin to concentrate on that, and nothing else. Of course if you are not a huge fan of using objects for hypnosis, you can feel free to have the person look into your eyes. So long as they are concentrating on something, the end result should be the same.

Remember that getting the individual to relax is a very important part of the whole process. One great way is to use music, and you will want to find music that generally causes a person to relax, but also make sure that they are not fully concentrating on said music. Many hypnotists prefer classical music for this purpose. There are however, specialized pieces of hypnosis music, which can be purchased. These pieces are generally called by the name "Hypnosis Music" and are never played on the radio. They repeat their beats in perfect time, allowing the subject to slip into a relaxed state faster.

Tips & Warnings
There are two basic types of hypnosis that you need to concern yourself with. The first one is conscious hypnosis. This is the type of hypnosis that you will see on television, and it is the one that you constantly hear about. You relax your subject, have them concentrate on the sound of your voice, and start giving them basic commands. The problem with this type of hypnosis is that your subject may try to resist you. The second type is rapid or instant hypnosis. You can do this by being generally friendly but authoritative with a person. You will be able to give them commands, and they will follow them so long as they don't object to it morally. Remember, you cannot force a person to do whatever you want, which is what most myths will say.
Take note that rapid hypnosis will work better if the person trusts you. It also helps greatly if you have performed hypnosis with them before, because this will make them much more susceptible to it a second time. These are just things to consider when trying rapid hypnosis.
