Laminate floors have become an attractive replacement for hardwood flooring. Laminate flooring is offered in any wood type, color or grain you desire, and many manufacturers offer a scratch-resistant type. Laminate flooring is easier to install than hardwood flooring, handles foundation shifts without separating and is considerably cheaper than hardwood flooring. Laminate floors are easy to clean with items already found in your home.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Vacuum cleaner or broom
  • Dish washing liquid
  • Rag
  • 1/4 cup vinegar
  • Quart-size spray bottle
  • Mop with microfiber pad
  1. Step 1

Vacuum or sweep the floor to remove any loose dirt or debris.

  2. Step 2

Mix two cups of warm water with one tablespoon of dish washing liquid. For tough stains only, dip a clean rag into the mixture, and rub gently on the spot until clean. Wipe up any excess moisture remaining, or it could damage your floor.

  3. Step 3

Pour 1/4 cup of vinegar into a quart-size spray bottle, and fill the rest of the bottle with warm water.

  4. Step 4

Lightly spray the floor with the cleaning solution, and mop the floor using a mop with a microfiber pad.

Tips & Warnings
  • For a quick clean, try using Windex in place of your regular cleaner. Rubbing alcohol can be used to remove scuff marks.
  • Never saturate your floors with water, or you can damage the finish. Cleaners heavy with soap or wax can damage the finish.
