Instructions

    • 1

Lay the rope on a flat surface such as the floor or a table and find the middle of the rope. You can choose to go ahead and make a loop in the middle of the rope, but it is not necessary for the application of the rope ladder.

    • 2

Take the right side of the rope and work your way down about one foot. Make a large, crushed S. The width of this crushed S will need to be big enough to place your foot on.

    • 3

Take the left side of the rope and work the end through the left eye of the rope where the crushed S is located.

    • 4

Loop the rope over the crushed S until it is back to the right side. Make sure as you surround the S with rope that it is tight. This area will become a rung for your ladder.

    • 5

After looping the rope back to the right side, bring the rope over the top of the S and thread the rope through the eye on the right side of the S. You have just completed the first rung.

    • 6

Continue the process. Create a large crushed backwards S with the left side of the rope and proceed to thread and loop the right side through as you did in steps 3-5 until you are back to the left side.

    • 7

Repeat the steps 2-6 until you are at the end of the rope, alternating sides as you go. You will see the rope ladder start to take shape as soon as you create the first ladder rung. Each rung after will be easier to make.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure the rope you are using will hold enough weight.
