Sony's PlayStation 3 is much more than a video game console. It is better defined as an entertainment center with its ability to play Blu-ray discs, DVDs and CDs, and connect to the Internet and even share media with computers elsewhere in your home. One thing many enjoy doing with their PS3 is downloading songs from their music collection onto it. This is something that is simple to do and can be accomplished in seconds.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Purchased CD
  • Mix CD
  • USB Flash Drive

    Purchased CDs

  1. Step 1

Place one of the CDs from your music collection into the PlayStation 3's disc tray. The system will instantly recognize the songs.

  2. Step 2

Access them by clicking on "Music" from the main PS3 menu and selecting the name of your CD.

  3. Step 3

Select the "Save" feature to download the songs to your hard drive for use when the original CD is not present.

  4. Burned CDs

  5. Step 1

Using a program like iTunes, you can make mix CDs filled with dozens of songs from different artists. If you have a collection of songs on your computer that you'd like on your PS3 but don't want to go to the trouble of ripping dozens of CDs, burn a compilation.

  6. Step 2

Put the newly burned disc in your PS3's disc tray.

  7. Step 3

Access them by clicking on "Music" from the main PS3 menu and selecting the name of your CD.

  8. Step 4

Select the "Save" feature to download the songs to your hard drive for use when the original CD is not present.

  9. USB flash drive

  10. Step 1

Put the songs you want to download to your PS3 onto your flash drive.

  11. Step 2

Plug the drive into one of the PS3's USB ports.

  12. Step 3

Go to "Music" and then "USB" in the PS3's main menu.

  13. Step 4

Use the "Save" option to save the songs to your PS3's hard drive.
