How to Clean Car Headlamp Covers

Car headlamp covers are constantly exposed to the elements and will become filthy and fogged over time. Cleaning the covers requires more elbow grease than anything else, although the job is easier if you buy and use special plastic polishes or follow the steps outlined here to prepare your own homemade cleaner.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Nylon bristle brush
  • Plastic polish available at auto parts stores or
  • Toothpaste and baking soda
  • Plastic cup
  • Old rags
  1. Step 1

    Use plastic polisher/cleaner paste available at auto stores or prepare your own cleaning paste by mixing equal parts toothpaste and baking soda in a small plastic cup.

  2. Step 2

    Use a rag to apply cleaning paste to all surfaces of the headlamp cover, then allow the paste to dry.

  3. Step 3

    Scrub the covers with a nylon bristle brush slightly dampened in water.

  4. Step 4

    Wipe away residual cleaner with rags and allow to dry.
