There are many reasons why knowing the owner of a rental property may be beneficial. Perhaps a rental property near your home is housing irresponsible tenants, or there is a piece of property you are interested in for purchase. Whatever the reason is for seeking the owner of a rental property, the information is public and may be obtained.

1. First, you will need a phone book to find the number for the county office in your area. These numbers can be found under headings such as, community information, government listings, etc. The pages are sometimes marked with blue or are located in the front of a phone book. Look up the number for the county assessors office in the county where the property is located.

2. Give the assessor the information requested. They may require only an address or an address description of the property. You may be asked to give your name and a reason for seeking out the information, depending on the establishment.

3. The assessor should be able to give a name and address of the owner(s) of the property. From this point you will need to look up a phone number using a phone book or search engine.
