Step 1
Go to www. Uscis.gov , select ‘Immigration forms’ and look for “Citizenship through Naturalization”, print out the information and application form N-400 / or go to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Naturalization Services Office, normally called “ INS” close to your area. You can also call USCIS toll-free forms line at 1-800-870-3676.

Step 2
When you have the information read carefully, be sure that you understand and follow the instruction. If you are still not sure call 1- 800 375-5283 (TTY : 1-800-767-1833)
Before you fill out the form, read the instructions to properly complete the form. -
Step 3
Prepare 2 ‘pass port’ type - photos of yourself. Get them from any place that provides Immigration or pass port photos. The cost is approximately $5 - $20. Depending on where and who performs the service. Write your name on the back of the photos with “ a pencil “

Step 4
Prepare all IDs, Alien Registering Number (A-Number). Keep these important documents where you can get them quickly anytime. What type of information needs to be filled out? If you are not sure make a copy and practice filling them out.

Step 5
Fill out the form, Type or print legibly (easy to read) in “Black Ink”, answer all questions fully and accurately. Write “N/A” for an item that does not apply to you, or “None” if the answer is none.
After completing the application form, let some one who has experience or speaks, reads English or an English speaking citizen to review it, or send to a legal services for review.
Make copies of everything you are providing and keep the copies for your personal records. -
Step 6
Put all required documentation forms with the completed Form N-400, along with Fees and ( 2) Photos together in a secure mailing envelope and return addressed properly with the correct address and zip code.
Mail your documents to the correct address, by way of “register mail” delivery. By doing this you will get a ‘conformation’ of received mail receipt from the post office. -
Step 7
Prepare well for taking the ‘Naturalization’ test before applying for your U.S. citizenship. You need to be able to understand and speak English as a second language and know how to read and write it.
