Alzheimer's disease effects more and more people every year. Alzheimer's can be one of the toughest diseases to deal with. Seeing a loved one slip away to Alzheimers disease can be heartbreaking and frustrating. Preventing Alzheimer disease early is the key to avoiding this mentally debilitating disease. Here are a few tips to help you avoid and prevent Alzheimer's disease as you grow older.

  1. Step 1

    Exercise your brain daily. Constant brain stimulation helps keep your mind sharp and alert, preventing the onset of Alzheimer disease. Reading or playing mentally challenging games will help stimulate and strengthen your brain cells.

  2. Step 2

    Take fish oil supplements. Alzheimer's disease research has shown that fish oil helps stabilize brain wave patterns and promote overall brain function. Fish oil can be found in capsule form at your local pharmacy or health food store.

  3. Step 3

    Increase your intake of vitamins E and B12. Studies show that both of these vitamins have vast neurological benefits and when taken on a regular basis reduce your chances of developing Alzheimer's disease.

  4. Step 4

    Listen to music. That's right, something as simple as listening to music can keep your brain stimulated and alert. So by simply turning on the car radio when your driving can help prevent Alzheimers disease. The disease Alzheimer's is expected to grow significantly in the next 20 years according to the Alzheimer's Association.
