Instructions

    • 1

Cut out a piece of fabric that is 6 inches wide and 12 inches long. Cut a 6-inch piece of elastic as well.

    • 2

Fold the fabric in half lengthwise, right sides together, and sew up the side. Take the safety pin and attach it to one end; pull the safety pin through the fabric "tube" to turn it inside out.

    • 3

Take your piece of elastic, attach the safety pin to one end, and carefully thread the elastic through the fabric "tube."

    • 4

Flap the ends of the elastic over each other and sew together with the zig-zag stitch on your machine. Go back and forth over the elastic ends several times; you don't want the seam to give under stress.

    • 5

Whipstitch the ends of the tube together with a threaded needle with small stitches.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can dress up your scrunchie for more formal events by using satin, velveteen or velour fabrics.
